Pet Calendar Contest Rules

1. The Newspaper in Education (NIE) program of The Advocate-Messenger and The Winchester Sun is proud to sponsor the pet calendar contest. All proceeds from the donations will go to NIE to support literacy in Boyle, Casey, Clark, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer counties.

2. For the contest, we will accept color photos of pets only. Photos will not be returned. Photos must be a minimum of 3”x5” in size or a minimum digital resolution of 200 DPI.  They can be mailed in with the entry form or submitted electronically to ccampbell@amnews.com (.jpg or TIFF format) or uploaded directly to the contest web page.

4. Newspaper readers will cast votes for their favorite pet photo, while showing support of literacy. Voting ballots will be available in the newspaper and online. Voters are encouraged to submit multiple votes.

5. The contestants’ pictures will be published in the October 23 edition of both The Advocate-Messenger and The Winchester Sun, and the photos will be displayed in this online contest. The contest will consist of three rounds with the top 13 winners announced Monday, November 12, 2012. Contestants with the lowest total votes will be eliminated each round until the final round. The contestants with the highest votes will continue to the next round. The first round will begin on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 and consist of all of the pets entered in the contest. Round one votes must be received at either The Advocate-Messenger or The Winchester Sun circulation office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26 to be counted. Online voting ends at 9:00 pm October 26.  Results for round one will be published on Monday, October 29, 2012. This begins round two. Round two ballots must be received at either The Advocate-Messenger or The Winchester Sun circulation office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2 to be counted. Online voting ends at 9:00 pm November 2.  Results for round two will be published on Monday, November 5, 2012. This begins round three. Round three ballots must be received at either The Advocate-Messenger or The Winchester Sun circulation office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9 to be counted. Online voting ends at 9:00 pm November 9.  Calendar winners will be published in both newspapers on Monday, November 12, 2012.

6. Your donation will be deposited in the NIE account to pay for newspapers and e-edition licenses for area schools each week. In addition to delivering newspapers, we provide educational supplements and activities for all grade levels and many lessons correlated to Kentucky State Standards.

7. Employees of The Advocate-Messenger or The Winchester Sun are NOT eligible to enter to win.

8. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the contest.

9. Sponsor. The contest is sponsored by Newspaper in Education program of The Advocate-Messenger and The Winchester Sun. The decisions of Sponsor regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the contest shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will not be responsible for typographical, printing, or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials related to the contest.
